5 Strong Reasons You Should Know Your American Heritage.

America is a nation like no other, your American Heritage matters! We have lived under the same incredible constitution for over 200 years.

Our heritage should not be the subject of spin, or rewriting history in the best light. Our nation has scars, and sins, and regrets.

However, with all of that, our American Heritage is one of hope, faith, and freedom! We are still that shining city upon the hill!

Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.” ~ Ronald Reagan

#1: For a more confident sense of personal identity

Every American has a story about how their family came here. Your American Heritage is different, yet it is the same as so many of your brothers.  America has been a beacon of hope that draws people from all over the world. The reason? Well, that is different for a lot of our forefathers.

Some were fleeing persecution, some were wanting to chase their dreams, and others were running away from their political system. Whatever the story is for your family, it is a major part of who you are. Your American Heritage is unique!

  • What led your family to America?
  • How many generations ago did they come?
  • Where did they come from?
  • What part of America did they first settle in?
  • What was their job or employment?
  • Why did they come?

Learning these facts about your American Heritage, and passing them on to your children, is part of your legacy. America’s reputation as the “melting pot” of the world, has long been it’s strength.

#2: To understand the legacy your forefathers gave to you.

As an American, you inherited a great trust. Your forefathers pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor, to give you freedom and liberty. You are the living legacy of that inheritance. So what is it? Let me give you some quotes directly from them.

John Adams – “Suppose a nation in some distant Region should take the Bible for their only law Book, and every member should regulate his conduct by the precepts there exhibited! Every member would be obliged in conscience, to temperance, frugality, and industry; to justice, kindness, and charity towards his fellow men; and to piety, love, and reverence toward Almighty God. These are just a few short quotes from some of our Founding Fathers. There is no doubt that our American Heritage, is a distinctly Christian Heritage.

Here are a few books that should be in your library, as a resource for your own benefit, and for teaching your American Heritage to your children and grandchildren.


#3: Because your freedoms are at stake!

We are living in a time where our American Heritage is being re-written. Gone are references to God and the Bible. Gone are references to Christianity’s place in the founding of our great nation. Gone are the clear motives of Freedom of Religion. Today it seems people want freedom FROM religion.

Because of that, our freedoms are being eroded and lost little by little. Many men don’t know what their God-given freedoms are, or their Constitutional freedoms which are based on God-given freedoms.

We must never forget that if our freedoms come from the government, then our freedoms will be taken away by the government. Our freedoms come from God, and are directly related to the Bible. If you don’t learn these things as a biblical man, and teach them to your children, then they will be lost.

#4: To Honor The blood and treasure that Americans have spent.

There are some things that really are worth fighting and dying for! Since the American Revolution and up until now, America’s finest sons and daughters have done their part to secure our liberty. American blood has been spilt on foreign soil across the globe to provide for continued freedom. You should know your American Heritage, and pass it on, to honor their sacrifice.

How many military veterans are in your family? Do you know who they are or were? Where did they serve, and when? How old were they when they went in? Were they drafted? Have any members of your family died on the battle field?

These questions are important, not only for you to know as a man, but to pass on that American Heritage to your children! They need to know!

#5: To be a guardian of our heritage, and pass on the legacy.

You are a guardian of your American Heritage. You should be proud of that legacy, and do all you can to pass it on. Biblical men have an obligation to teach their children about Jesus Christ, and no matter what they say, you cannot separate Jesus from America!

Pass the torch of freedom to your children and grandchildren. Be the guardian that God has called you to be. In doing so, you will be raising up the future guardians of our American Heritage.

The Key – is to start now, and take as big of a step as you can, in the right direction.
