7 Ways You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

| |

I bet you will agree with me when I tell you that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Those are David’s own amazing words, inspired by God Himself!

In fact, within the Psalms, David wrote a significant amount on the subject. That God was his creator, was a treasured thought for David. No wonder God called David “a man after his own heart”.

When a man understands that he is made by God, it begins a journey of discovery. Thoughts and questions about God and the reason for our existence start to swirl around in our God-given minds.

There are many examples of this in the Bible and we will take a close look at some of those scriptures. Are you ready?

In this article, you will discover 7 Ways You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made:

  1. You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made in God’s image.
  2. You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made as a Living Soul.
  3. You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made as an Eternal Being.
  4. You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made as the Crowning Point of Creation
  5. You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made to Know God.
  6. You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made to be Known by God.
  7. You Fearfully and Wonderfully Made with a Free Will.

Here is the Bible reference for being Fearfully and Wonderfully Made:

Psalm 139:13–16 “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.” (KJV)

Now, let’s look at the 7 Ways You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made:

in his image

  1. You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made in God’s image.

Genesis 1:26–27 “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” (KJV)

God created you to be like Him, and you were made in His image. This separates you from everything else that He made.

Despite what the theory of evolution teaches, you are not an animal, a mammal, or a part of the animal kingdom. You are made in the image of God!

This must be one of the reasons that David said “I am fearfully and wonderfully made”

a living soul

2. You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made as a Living Soul.

Genesis 2:6–7 “But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (KJV)

Of all the creatures that God spoke into existence, this is not said of any of them, other than mankind.

In fact, everything else was spoken into existence, but man was formed with God’s own hands, and then given the breath of life by God Himself! Pretty amazing!

You have a soul! This makes you, as a human, different than everything else on Earth. You are given the gift of a soul. Your soul is what give you the ability to even think about God at all.

Your soul is made up of your mind, your will, and your emotions. It is the corps difference of mankind.

an eternal being

3. You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made as an Eternal Being.

Matthew 25:41–46 “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.” (KJV)

Because you are a living soul, you are an eternal being. Just as God is an eternal being, you were created in His image, and the Bible teaches us that you will spend an eternity somewhere.

This is why it is so important to understand that you are a sinner, and to trust Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, so that you can find forgiveness of your sins against God, and spend that eternity with Him in Heaven.

crowning point

4. You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made as the Crowning Point of Creation

Genesis 1:27–28 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (KJV)

Genesis 2:1–2 “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.” (KJV)

After everything else was made, God made man. We are His masterpiece. It wasn’t until man had been placed into His beautiful creation, that He declared it finished.

to know God

5. You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made to Know God.

Romans 11:33–36 “O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! 34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? 35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? 36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.” (KJV)

You were fearfully and wonderfully made of God, through God, and for God. He wants you to know Him. That is why God sent his son, that we may be forgiven through Him, and able know God the Father.

It says in – Hebrews 4:14–16 “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” (KJV)

Through Christ, you can know God.

known by God

6. You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made to be Known by God.

Psalm 139:17–18 “How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.” (KJV)

Luke 12:7 “But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” (KJV)

These are just a few verses of many, that show you are made to be known by God. He loves, He knows you, and He has paid the ultimate price, by coming as a man, the Lord Jesus Christ, to redeem you, to bring you to Himself.

free will

7. You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made with a Free Will.

Joshua 24:15 “And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (KJV)

God could have made you like a robot, without a choice to worship Him or not. But God wants you to choose. He wants you to seek Him, and find Him, because you desire to know Him.

We learn in Jeremiah 29:11–13 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. 12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (KJV)

You have a choice, to seek him with your whole heart, or not. It’s up to you.

fearfully-and-wonderfully-made

Once again, here is the Bible reference for being Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
